Bethel is pleased to announce that Vicar Vera McEwen will serve as interim at Bethel and will join us May 10, 2020. She has been accepted by the ELCA and Southwest Washington Synod by Bishop Jaech and will serve as a Synodically Authorized Minister (SAM).
Her Bio:Vicar Vera McEwen is incredibly excited to support and assist Bethel Lutheran Church of Brush Prairie, Washington during this period of transition. She embodies the Love of Christ through witness and discipleship. She completed an interim call at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she implemented new systems and structures to support their ministry and prepare for and support their new pastor. Her primary emphasis at Shalom Lutheran Church in Pinckney where she interned was spreading God's Love by providing pastoral care, preaching God's Loving Word, teaching God's Living Word, and implementing God's Living relational group architecture. She completed her MDIV academic studies at Luther Seminary where she graduated in May 2019. She is currently reviewing the prospects of a doctorate in religious studies with an emphasis on Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic as encouraged by her professors at seminary. In addition to her vocation as Vicar she ministers via project management at Michigan State University (MSU) in their Information Technology (IT) department. Where, with God's help, she implements 1 Thessalonians 5.11 motivating people to be and do their very best by building one another up.
